PASTORAL OFFICER

Right to Dream Academy is hiring a Pastoral Officer.
This position plays a crucial role in delivering daily care and guidance to student-athletes, maintaining rigorous standards of values and principles.
The incumbent will offer top-tier behavioural guidance and support to student-athletes, ensuring established safeguarding policies and procedures are upheld, and escalating issues as needed
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Support the well-being of students including social, health, physical, hygiene, first aid and other welfare matters; and report all pressing matters to relevant personnel, in consultation with the Head of Pastoral Care.

Assist in providing educational support for students when needed.

Assist in the policing and implementation of child protection and safeguarding standards across the Academy.

Organise and attend dorm meetings at least once a week to discuss dorm issues with the students.

Supervise/organise announced and unannounced roll calls and inspections and communicate announcements to tutor groups.

Assist in ensuring students’ cleaning and hygiene such as washing clothes at the dorms, and cleaning the dorms, dining hall, and other places across the academy.

Work with Head of Pastoral Care to co-ordinate intra-dorm social and fun activities.

Effectively manage the relationship between parents/ guardians of the tutor group through regular phone calls, invitations of parents/ guardians to the Academy and visiting homes of the students when necessary.

Support the development and implementation of relevant developmental education, behaviour, health, and support plans, in a creative manner.

Ensure that dormitory equipment like lockers, fans, switches, bedding and lighting is in good condition. If not, report any malfunction or breakages to the Head of Pastoral Care.

Oversee a dormitory operation that ensure strict adherence to health and safety standards.

Ensure the availability of play/game resources and engage and supervise students’ play/game activities.

Assist in enforcing the Academy’s code of conduct, imploring positive reinforcement strategies.

Plan and implement appropriate interventions for both individuals and groups.

Monitor students who either have been bullied or who have bullied others and advise the Head of Pastoral Care accordingly.

Report any case of sickness/ unwellness (physically, psychologically, or emotionally) to the medical team or relevant persons and oversee the administration of prescribed medications.

Report any case of theft, bullying, fighting, etc. to the Head of Pastoral Care or any staff delegated to do such.

In consultation with the Head of Pastoral Care, assist in managing the leadership structure of students.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Accurately keep records of all happenings at the dormitory, on the pitch and at school and share relevant information with the Head of Pastoral Care.

Provide constructive and objective feedback on students’ behaviour, both trialists and Academy students alike.

Assist in delivering the Life Curriculum to prepare students for life

Physically inspect students in their beds at least twice after lights out.
-
Register and monitor the usage of phones, gadgets, etc.

Supervise students within the Academy premises, on trips and out-of-school activities as required.

Assist the Head of Pastoral Care to manage the dormitory storeroom.
Departmental Support

Attend all departmental meetings, as well as other meetings planned by the line manager, the Head of Pastoral Care.

Assist the management of boarders’ biodata gathering, storage and updating.

Work with the Head of Pastoral Care to implement a Christian religious education program for all RTD Christian students.

Work with other departments, carefully monitor the progress of the students and assist them in achieving set targets.

Participate in the planning and implementation of midterm activities for all students.

Assist in planning and implementing entertainment activities for all students.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
-
Must hold a degree in a social science, preferably social work, psychology or any other relevant field.

A previous working experience with children is an added advantage
